If you don’t like cats, well, shame on you! And actually how dare you? They’re incredibly cute! But there’s one other animal that’s even more adorable than a cat: a kitten! And today, we’re going to give you the photos of some of the most adorable ones you can find online. There’s this subreddit named Illegally Smol Cats, and the online community has 391,000 members sharing adorable pictures of tiny kittens. It even says “It should be illegal to be that cute,” in the description section of this online group. And we absolutely agree. The subreddit was only created back in August 2019, but they managed to gather a very impressive number of members already. They only have two moderators running the community, who assigns posts into one of these categories: “Criminally Smol”, “Smol and Angry”, “Honorary Smol Kitty”, “Full Grown Smol”, “Smol Beach Kitty”, and finally “Smol, Yet Chonk”. As we all agree, cats are cute at any age but learning how old a kitten is can help determine what kind of care they need. Sometimes it can be a bit hard to tell. You can use this guide that was released by Alley Cat Allies to exactly tell the age of these kitties in the pictures in no time, or at least in a very short period of time.

When kittens are first born, they’re totally in need of help- their eyes are closed, their ears are folded, and they are not even capable of standing, keeping themselves warm, or eating on their own. At this point in their lives, they completely depend on their mother. They’re usually small enough to keep in the palm of your hand, and they weigh around 3-5 ounces. These kittens spend approximately 90 percent of their time sleeping and the other 10 percent eating. When they become a week old, they start to get more aware of their surroundings, and their eyes are almost entirely open, though their eyesight is still unfocused. They also weigh around eight ounces around that time, and at approximately seven days old, a kitten’s ears will also unfold. In their second week, they keep on growing really fast. After 14 days, their ears are almost entirely unfolded as well and they start to crawl around, even though they still rely completely on their caregiver for food and toilet needs.

You will be able to tell your kitty’s gender by the third week. Their sharp teeth are coming in, and they become more confident when it comes to exploring their surroundings and walking around. You also need to give them a litter box and wet food around this time. Four-week-old kittens can stand perfectly on their feet and they enjoy playing with each other, toys, and people. They usually look like fluffy, mini versions of their mom and they start to show interest in the outside world. That’s the best time for them to start socializing! This point in their lives is still early for them to find a forever home, but with each passing day, their sentence for being “smol” gets shorter and shorter.
